Set Email in Outlook Express
For those users who know how to setup an email account and just need to settings you can find this information here.

*Note* For clients that are on the Yellow Sheet Design system please use this guide.

This guide was written for Microsoft Outlook Express.  If you have Microsoft Outlook please use this guide.



Step 1:

Go to the "Tools" menu and then down to "Accounts..."

Click on the "Mail" tab at the top of the new window that opens and then click on the "Add" button to open up a small menu.  Choose "Mail..." from the menu that opens.

This will open the "Internet Connection Wizard" window.  Beside where it says "Display name" enter your name.  Then click on the "Next >" button.

In the E-mail address field enter in your email address.  If Sage has setup an alias for you enter the alias here instead.  Then click the "Next >"  button.

Step 5:

Benieth where it says "Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server" enter "webmail.sageinternet.com" without the quotes.  Benieth where it says "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server" enter "sendmail.sageinternet.com" without the quotes.  Then click the "Next >" button.

Click the "Finish" button to close the "Internet Connection Wizard".  We are almost completed but there are still a few steps left to do.

Upon clicking the Finish button you will be back at the "Internet Accounts" window.  Here you can see a listing of all of the email accounts you have on your computer.  Look for the one where the account name is "webmail.sageinternet.com" click on it once so it is highlighted and then click on the "Properties" button.

The window that opened contains all of the settings for your email account.  The fist thing we want to do is change the name that Outlook Express uses to identify the account.  This is so that if we ever need to make changes to the account we can easilly identify it in the future.  In the box at the top where it says "webmail.sageinternet.com" change this to your email address.  By default your email address will already be filled in on the E-mail address tab.  The other fields on this page are optional.  If you are using an alias it is recommended that you put your alias into the "Reply address" box.  This is done so that if someone responds to your email it will send to the alias account.  Once the fields are filled in click on the "Servers" tab at the top of the window.

Down at the bottom of the window under where it says "Outgoing Mail Server" place a check mark in the box beside "My server requires authentication" and then click on the advanced tab at the top of the window.

Where is says "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" change the number from 25 to 2525.  Then down near the bottom of the window where it says "Delivery" put a checkmark in the box beside "Leave a copy of messages on server".  This will now unlock two other checkboxes.  Put a check in the boxes beside "Remove from server after" and "Remove from server when deleted from 'Deleted Items'".  Lastly change the number in the box to a 7 so the messages are stored for a week.  Then click the "OK" button to close the email account properties window.

Click the "Close" button to close the "Internet Accounts" window.  Then to test to make sure the account is working.  Make sure you are connected to the internet and then press the click on the "Send/Recv" at the top of window to test the account.  Outlook Express will then attempt to connect to the email account to check for new messsages.  If everything was setup correctly it won't return any error messages and you have successfully setup your email account. Congratulations.
